The smaller version of the standard model, the Austin Air HealthMate Jr. is great
for areas up to 700 sq feet. Perfect for 1-2 rooms, especially the bedroom.

Jr. filter contains a 30 sq. ft. HEPA filter to filter out 99.97% of air borne
particles larger than 0.3 microns. In addition to this, it has 6.5 lbs of a
carbon zeolite mix that filters out over 3,000 toxic gases and odors. Furthermore,
this filter has a pro-rated 5 year warranty. The filter media is expected to
last at least 5 years and, if it doesn't, Austin Air will refund you a pro-rated
portion of the cost of the filter.*
Unlike many other air filters that vent in all directions, the HealthMate Jr.
has one concentrated air outlet. By positioning the unit in the right place,
you can direct the airflow right where you want it, creating a pocket of purified
air right where you are sitting or sleeping. This dramatically increases the
effectiveness of the filter since you can breathe clean air within seconds without
waiting for the entire room to be filtered.
An air filter is useless if it is turned off. The HealthMate Jr. is so quiet
you won't mind having it on all the time even when you are sleeping. Its three
speed settings let you find the perfect balance between sound and airflow. Use
high to quickly clear the area of new odors or pollutants, medium for normal
use, and low when you want minimal sound. Since it is designed to run continously
for years, you can leave it on around the clock.
The HealthMate Jr. requires very little maintenance. We suggest vacuuming the
outer surface of the unit monthly and washing the pre-filter once a year.
The HealthMate Jr. comes in 3 colors to coordinate with your home decor. Sandstone,
an offwhite slightly textured finish that coordinates with most interiors, is
the most popular. White is popular in more sterile environments, and black coordinates
well with high-tech or darker interiors.

I have personally used two Austin
Air HealthMates and one Austin
Air HealthMate Jr. for over five years now, running them almost continously
the entire time. I have one in my bedroom, one in my office, and one in my living-room.
They have allowed me to tolerate meetings with people wearing perfume as well
as to clear areas with odors that I cannot tolerate. I recently tested my five
year old office HealthMate next to a brand new unit and was amazed that it was
running just as quietly as the brand new one. I have not done a filter change
in the entire five years and it is still removing odors effectively.
