expensive but worth it

02/08/2008 - by amanda h. from texas

my daughter has very sensitive skin and has to use up to 6 creams a day to keep her skin clear. we tried every soap we knew of to keep it under control. her allergy and asthma dr told us about this and we have been using this soap for over a year and her skin seems be very clear. although it's expensive it is well worth it. i plan on continuing this soap.

Good Expensive Soap

I have asthma. I first tried a sample size and found it much less likely to produce asthma symptoms than the Dove Sensitive Skin "Fragrance Free" bar.

When I bought the 3.9 oz bar, it seemed to have more of a smell than I remembered, perhaps because it is a bigger bar. It still seems better than the other soaps, though. My husband really liked the way his skin feels since using it, so we are probably going to buy more.

I would certainly not describe it as long lasting. We are going to try to use a soap saver to see if that helps it keep from washing away.

The price is the reason for my lower rating. Maybe that price is to be expected with asthma-friendly products, but this three times the cost of a regular bar of soap.

Absolutely best fragrance-free soap!

This soap has a great lather and cleans exceptionally well without an awful non-smell. I have a hard time with most soaps, but none with this. No itching or rashes.

Vanicream Cleansing Bar

I had high hopes for this cleansing bar recommended by my allergist for my fragrance allergies but I was badly disappointed. I have fragrance allergies (artificial - so far all natural botanicals used cause no reaction), but I also suffer from contact dermatitis due to chemicals and other agents. My allergist and I are still in the process of identifying them. After 3 days of use my skin was clean but starting to swell slightly and was very tender to touch. I have small sebaceous cysts that become very swollen and tender when they have prolonged contact with an irritant. Upon looking at the ingredients and comparing them to the list I had just recently compiled of common irritants for contact dermatitis, I was shocked to find 3 ingredients that were common irritants. I am back searching again.
