The HealthMate SuperBlend is similar to the standard HealthMate
but features a new air filter cartridge design. In addition to the standard
carbon-zeolite mix found in standard HealthMates, the HealthMate Superblend filter
contains potassium iodide. This gives the HealthMate 450 Superblend an enhanced ability
to remove VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) gases such as formaldehyde.
Here are just some of the benefits of the HealthMate Superblend:

mites, and dander as well as over 3000 toxic gases and odors from the air.

Superblend filter contains a 60 sq. ft. HEPA filter to filter out 99.97% of air borne
particles larger than 0.3 microns. In addition to this it has 15 lb.s of a carbon
zeolite mix impregnated with potassium idiode that filters out over 3,000 toxic
gases and odors. No other personal air filter comes close to this level of performance.
Furthermore, this filter has a pro-rated 5 year warranty. The filter media is
expected to last at least 5 years and, if it doesn't, Austin Air will refund
you a pro-rated portion of the cost of the filter.*
Unlike many other air filters that vent in all directions, the HealthMate 450
has one concentrated air outlet. By positioning the unit in the right place
(an easy process since it has built-in casters), you can direct the airflow
right where you want it, creating a pocket of purified air right where you are
sitting or sleeping. This dramatically increases the effectiveness of the filter
since you can breathe clean air within seconds without waiting for the entire
room to be filtered.
An air filter is useless if it is turned off. The HealthMate 450 is so quiet
you won't mind having it on all the time even when you are sleeping. Its three
speed settings let you find the perfect balance between sound and airflow. Use
high to quickly clear the area of new odors or pollutants, medium for normal
use, and low when you want minimal sound. Since it is designed to run continously
for years, you can leave it on around the clock.
The HealthMate 450 requires very little maintenance. We suggest vacuuming
the outer surface of the unit monthly and washing the pre-filter once a year.
We have found that some chemically sensitive people have developed negative
reactions to the potassium iodide in the HealthMate Superblend filter. If you are
extremely chemically sensitive, we therefore recommend the standard Austin
Air HealthMate.
