Comforters and duvets are one of dust mites' favorite breeding areas. Unfortunately, this means they live right next to your face. Every time you shift your comforter, you send dust mite allergens directly into the air your breathe.
If you have a standard duvet or comforter, what can you do? You can launder your entire comforter in very hot water or in cold water with anti-allergen detergent at least once every 1-2 weeks -- a time consuming and costly procedure -- or you can cover your duvet or comforter with a dust mite-proof encasing.
Dust mite encasings seal your comforter so that dust mites and their allergens are unable to pierce through the surface. Moreover, all of the encasings below are designed to withstand frequent and repeated washing at 140 degrees -- a temperature hot enough to kill dust mites. Depending on your sensitivity, you may be able to go up to two months between washings.
