Allergies to Pets

With the proper treatments, even allergy sufferers can have pets If you are allergic to dogs and/or cats but also have a pet you love dearly, it is possible to keep your pet and keep your allergies under control if you take the right steps.

Pet allergies are caused by a very fine dust called "dander" which is created when the dried saliva from your dog or cat flakes off their fur and skin. The amount of dander in your home can often be controlled to acceptable levels with the combination of four things:

regular bathing/treatment of your pet's fur
continuously running a HEPA air purifier, such as the IQAir HealthPro Plus, in all living areas, especially the bedroom
frequent vacuuming with a high quality HEPA vacuum
Using allergen neutralizers for the rooms your pets are in

Even with these measures in place we strongly recommend not allowing pets into your bedroom. The fine dander will settle on your bedding and be stirred into the air everytime you move in your bed.
