Dust Mite Bedding and Encasings

Dust
mites can be found in all households. Since they feed on shed human skin, they
love to live in mattresses, bed pillows, and stuffed bedding items like comforters.
Bedding not only provides dust mites with the best conditions of warmth and
humidity, it also offers them a steady source of nourishment.
Studies confirm that minimizing dust mite allergen exposure
in the bedroom reduces allergic symptoms and the need for
medication. Doctors and allergists agree that the most important
thing you can do is put a barrier between you and dust
mites. This means enclosing your bedding --
mattress, pillows,
box spring,
and comforter
-- in zippered, allergen-impermeable encasings.
We offer seven different types of dust mite-proof encasing
materials to suit a variety of situations. If you like, you
can mix and match different encasing types. For example, you
can choose the Microfiber
Encasing for your pillows and duvet, Cotton
Blend for the mattress, and Vinyl
for the box-springs.

Encasings typically fall into one of two types: those with membranes
and those without membranes. Learn how
to choose between encasings with and without membranes.

Dust Mite Proof Encasings with
Membranes
Encasings WITH membranes are made
of fabrics bonded to an airtight layer of water vapor-permeable urethane.
Because the membrane is airtight, not even the smallest dust mite or dust
mite allergen particle will pass through. They are most suitable for those
who are highly allergic to dust mites. More...

Dust Mite Proof Encasings without
Membranes
Encasings WITHOUT membranes have
a special weave or construction that keeps the pore size so small that
dust mites cannot pass through. They feel very much like regular bedding
material, but the weave is very fine. We recommend this material for those
with mild to moderate dust mite allergies. More... |
